Ready to try archery? Join my 40-minute introductory sessions at Karnala Sports Academy to learn the basics, hold your first bow, and find your focus with expert, hands-on guidance.

Proper technique starts from day one. I provide personalized instruction, like adjusting a student's grip on this Indian round bow, to ensure a safe and effective learning experience during our beginner archery lessons.

I work closely with each student to perfect their form. Here, I'm guiding an archer on her posture and aiming technique with a recurve bow, a crucial step in building muscle memory for consistent shots.

A great coach makes all the difference. During a competition, I take the time to give last-minute advice and encouragement to one of our young archers, ensuring she feels supported and ready.

A student takes aim during one of our summer sessions. You can see her focus as she practices with a compound bow, applying the core principles of stance and release that we teach all our beginners.

This video captures a young student practicing with a wooden bow, demonstrating the full process from nocking the arrow to releasing the shot. It shows the determination and focus that archery instills from a young age.

Even our youngest archers learn discipline and focus. Here, a young boy gets ready on the shooting line at a state competition, showing the confidence that comes from our structured training programs.

Young archers line up at the SFA Archery Championship in Mumbai. Our introductory sessions are perfect for kids aged 10 and up to discover a new sport and build valuable life skills.

Hands-on coaching is key for beginners. I'm observing and correcting a young student's form as he practices with a traditional bow, ensuring he develops good habits right from the start.

Here I am assisting a student with her recurve bow setup during a practice session. We make sure every archer, new or experienced, understands their equipment and how to use it safely.

Training can happen in various settings. In this image, I'm supervising a student's practice, focusing on consistency and form even outside the formal range.

About Learning the Ropes: For Beginners

In our 40-minute intro session, we cut out the theory and get straight to the shooting line. I guide you personally on your stance, grip, and release with an Indian wooden bow, giving you enough time to fire 20 to 30 arrows. It is a hands-on, no-nonsense introduction to see if you have the focus and steady hand for the sport.

Whether you are just curious about holding a bow or looking to see if archery is your next hobby, these sessions are designed for you. I keep the group setting focused so you get proper attention to your form and safety.

What you need to know:

  • The Equipment: We provide Indian round bows, finger tabs, and arm guards. Note that these are entry-level wooden bows, not the compound or recurve setups used in major tournaments.
  • The Venue: We operate at open-air grounds at Karnala Sports Academy and the Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai Campus. Since it is open-air, come prepared for outdoor conditions.
  • Your Progression: This is where your journey starts. If you show potential and interest, I can guide you toward advanced training, including recurve and compound archery, where we focus on competitive shooting and state-level representation.

Archery is about discipline, and that starts with the fundamentals of stance and release. My goal is to get you comfortable and confident before you even think about hitting the bullseye. If you are aged 10 or above, you are ready to start.
