About The Sur-Taal Project
When I started The Sur-Taal Project, I wanted to move away from standard DJ sets. By syncing electronic tracks with live tabla, we create a soundscape that works as well for a chic sundowner as it does for a Haldi ceremony. It is about bringing a sophisticated layer of live musicianship to the dance floor without losing that high-octane energy.
At the core of this project is the jugalbandi between my console and the tabla. We do not just play a set; we craft a rhythmic journey that builds from melodic, soulful intros to high-BPM finales. It is perfect for those moments where you want the crowd to dance but also appreciate the artistry. Whether it is a sundowner looking for that relaxed, rhythmic vibe or a Haldi ceremony where you need to keep the mood celebratory, the tabla adds an organic texture that a digital track just cannot replicate.
