Creating a mashup is not just about beat matching. It is about finding the bridge between two different eras. Whether I am layering a regional Kokborok rap track over a modern hip hop beat or mixing a 90s classic into a high energy Psy Trance drop, I test every transition live on my Pioneer controller. It is a bit like my research work. Precision matters, but the magic happens when the unexpected elements click.
You might wonder why a scientist stands behind a DJ console. For me, it is the same process. In the lab, I look for data patterns. On the decks, I look for sonic patterns. This is why I do not rely on pre-recorded playlists. Every set I play is a live performance where I read the room and adjust the mix in real time.
