The Academy Vibe: Building Your DJ Tribe
At The DJ School in Borivali West, we don't just teach you to press buttons. We build your confidence and help you find your own dil ki aawaz (voice of the heart) in a studio where everyone supports each other's grind.
This is what it's all about. A group of my students, full of energy after a session. We build a community here, a tribe of future DJs who support and learn from each other.
The best moments are when my students show their appreciation. This cake says it all. My greatest reward is seeing them succeed and knowing I played a part in their journey.
About The Academy Vibe: Our Community
You aren't just here to watch a video tutorial; you are here to get on the decks. From day one at my Borivali studio, we focus on manual beatmatching and ear training on Pioneer gear. There are no shortcuts and no syncing software to hide behind. It is about you, the music, and the community of students working right alongside you.
No Shortcuts, Just Skills
I built this academy because I wanted a space that prioritizes the craft over vanity. Whether you are a complete novice or looking to refine your turntablism, the process is the same. We start with the fundamentals: counting beats, understanding bars, and mastering manual beatmatching. You will be using Pioneer CDJs and DJM mixers, the same gear you will find in clubs across Mumbai. This is not about letting the software do the work for you; it is about training your ears to recognize the flow and energy of a track.
The Community Grind
Learning is hard, but it is easier when you are surrounded by people with the same goal. My studio is a space for positive vibes, not competition. Students practice in the same studio, help each other fix mistakes, and share their progress. You will see firsthand how others handle their sets, which helps you build the confidence to eventually perform your own. This is where we break down techniques like the 'Baby Scratch' and move into complex mashups.
Beyond the Console
If you are looking to get into production, we cover Ableton Live, sound design, and beat construction. For those in our 1-year diploma program, the mentorship extends into real-world experience, including shadowing me at live gigs and understanding how to set up for a professional show. We end your journey with a recorded final set on the console. It is not about being perfect from the start. It is about showing what you have learned and being ready for your first gig.
