Magical Storytelling Performances in Mumbai
I turn stories into a magic potion. From local schools in Mumbai to international festivals, I use my voice and expressions to bring tales to life for kids of all ages.
Storytelling to 300 kids from Nursery to Senior KG is a challenge, but pure magic! I had to improvise and adapt my story on the fly to match their incredible energy. It's moments like these that remind me why I love what I do.
It was a dream come true to be invited back to my old school to tell stories. Seeing the wonder on the students' faces and getting a standing ovation was the most beautiful gift a storyteller could ask for.
Kids can get lost in a story, even if it's not in their first language. I experienced this firsthand at Bombay International School, where I shared a Hindi tale with students who were completely enthralled.
The energy at JBCN Borivali's literature week was amazing! This is a clip of me telling an interactive story, getting the kids to guess what happens next. Their participation makes the story come alive.
Whether it's getting kids to eat their veggies or brush their teeth, stories are the oldest and most effective communication tool. Here I am at an outdoor session, using a story to teach and engage.
Telling stories in my mother tongue, Marathi, is always special. This was from the Mighty Mytho festival at the CSMVS museum in Mumbai, where I shared the story of Bhasmasur and Mohini.
A short clip from my performance at the Gaatha International Storytelling Festival. My goal at these events is always to inspire parents to go home and tell stories to their own children. If I can do that, my job is done.
About this collection
I believe in reading the room, not a script. Whether I am performing for 30 toddlers or 300 energetic students at a literary fest, my approach is to weave interactions into the narrative. You won't see me relying on puppets because the real magic happens in the connection I build with the audience using just my voice and expressions.
Storytelling isn't just about entertainment; it is the oldest communication tool we have. When I perform at events like the Gaatha International Storytelling Festival or school literary weeks, I focus on the impact. Does the story teach empathy? Can it help a child manage big emotions? My performances are designed to engage, not just keep kids quiet. I often weave in Indian mythology—like the Bhasmasur and Mohini tale—to connect children with our rich cultural roots. For parents and teachers watching, my goal is simple: to inspire you to go home and tell stories to your own children. You don't need fancy props or a theater set. You just need to speak up, use your voice, and be present. Every session is an experiment in energy, whether it is a small group in Chembur or a large auditorium of 300 kids. If you have been looking for a storyteller who can bridge language barriers and make learning feel like play, let’s talk.

Namaskar! I am Devaki. I turned my love for stories into my profession because I saw firsthand how much a simple tale can change a child's day. I don’t just tell stories; I help you find your own voice to tell them too.
