Live Interactive Storytelling Performances for Children
I bring stories to life—from intimate classroom circles to bustling festival stages. Whether it's a school event or a birthday, my sessions aren't just about reading; they’re about sparking wonder, asking questions, and getting kids involved in the magic.
A standing ovation from 6th graders at my old school was a dream come true. This is the power of a 40 minute session. It reminds me how storytelling can create a powerful bond and an engaging learning experience.
I may be a naturally shy person, but when I'm on stage telling a story, I transform. This is me in my element, using puppets and my voice to captivate an audience of young children.
The energy at JBCN Borivali's literature week was amazing! This clip captures the interactive nature of my sessions, where I ask questions and the children's answers become part of the story itself. It's my happy place.
What an amazing, enthusiastic crowd at the Kukdukoo Fest in Bengaluru! I'm on stage, getting the children to stretch and act out the story of a kite. Involving the body makes the story so much more memorable.
Performing at the Kukdukoo lit fest in Mohali was so special after three years of online storytelling. Here you can see me on stage and interacting with the children and their wonderful artwork afterwards.
A lit tale at the CSMVS Museum in Mumbai. Here I am telling a story in Marathi, my mother tongue, followed by a nature art activity where children created characters from leaves and petals.
I was invited to be a storyteller at The Sassy Spoon in Jio World Drive. I shared a "Midnight Feast" episode from Malory Towers, and then we all had our own feast with cucumber sandwiches and lemonade!
About this collection
When I step on stage, the book is just the beginning. The real magic happens when children shout out answers, join in the sound effects, or act out the scenes with me. My performances are built on this back-and-forth energy, turning a 60-minute event into a space where kids feel seen, heard, and deeply engaged.
I don't believe in passive listening. Whether I am performing for 30 children in a library or 300 at a literature festival, my goal is the same: to make the story a shared experience. I use voice modulation, simple props like hand puppets, and physical theatre to draw the audience in.
For festivals like Kukdukoo or school lit-weeks, I lean into themes that matter—values, mythology, or emotional intelligence—but I always adapt to the energy of the room. I find that when we involve the body—stretching like a kite or acting like a character—the story becomes something they own.
If you’re planning an event in Mumbai or across India, we can discuss the right format. Small group birthday sessions are intimate and highly interactive, while large stage performances rely on call-and-response techniques to keep the energy high. I also offer virtual sessions for dispersed groups. You don’t need a complex setup; just a group of curious minds and a willingness to step into the story with me.

Namaskar! I’m Devaki, and I believe stories are the magic potion for a child’s development. After years in a corporate role, I chose to trade spreadsheets for puppets and perform stories that help children build kindness, resilience, and confidence.
