Landmark Institutional Architecture and Public Space Design
My work in institutional architecture explores the intersection of symbolic design and structural engineering. This project highlights my approach to scaling design concepts for large public buildings.
A feature in Architecture+Design magazine on the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya. It was an honor to lead the design of this symbolic architectural marvel, which represents the story of a rising India.
A frontal view of the completed museum building, showing its powerful, sculptural form rising from the landscape. The design features grand stairs leading to the entrance, creating a formal and welcoming approach.
The interior of the museum, featuring a dynamic ceiling with lights representing the Indian flag. This space was designed to be immersive, using technology and architecture to tell a story.
The grand staircase inside the museum, referred to as the 'Time Machine'. The design uses clean lines, modern materials like glass and steel, and dramatic back-lit panels to create a futuristic feel.
The master plan and concept diagram for the museum project. The design concept was inspired by the hands of the nation's leaders shaping its future, symbolized by the form of the building.
Here I am presenting the architectural model of the museum. This model was a key tool in communicating the design vision for this winning global competition entry.
The cover story from a publication on the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya. The project is described as a testament to the hands that have shaped the nation and a symbol of India's rise.
Another view of the grand interior staircase, showcasing the scale and modern aesthetic of the museum's public spaces.

About Landmark Institutional Architecture
Designing for the public sphere demands a precise balance between aesthetic monumentality and functional clarity. My process for large-scale institutional projects focuses on creating a cohesive experience for the visitor, ensuring that the structural massing and material selections serve the primary narrative of the space, much like in my private residential work.
The Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya project represents a study in how architecture communicates a national story. To execute this vision, we utilized a master plan that anchors the building within the landscape, using sunken courtyards and grand interior volumes to guide visitor movement.
Engineering and Concept
The core concept was derived from hands molding clay, a gesture interpreted through curved structural forms and robust concrete materiality. We prioritized natural light integration through strategic skylights and atriums, ensuring the interior feel remains airy despite the massive scale of the facility.
Key Technical Aspects
- Material Strategy: Implementation of high-performance glass, steel, and stone to ensure durability for high-footfall areas.
- Spatial Planning: Managing a 25-acre site requires rigid adherence to site logistics and structural grid placement, ensuring the flow between exhibition zones is intuitive and seamless.
- Symbolism: The architecture is not merely a container for exhibits but a physical manifestation of progress, with clean lines and geometric precision that reflect a contemporary Indian identity.
This project demonstrates my capability to handle complex structural requirements and large-format site planning while maintaining the same commitment to detail found in my high-end residential practice.
