About Live at Red Bull: Dance Your Style & BC One
When I spin for battles, I’m not just playing music for the crowd, I’m listening to the dancers. My set flows based on their footwork and energy, so whether it's a house jam or a hip-hop battle, I’m constantly flipping beats in real-time to match the intensity on the floor.
Battle DJing is a different beast compared to club sets. In a competition like Red Bull Dance Your Style or BC One, the music has to do more than just make people dance. It has to challenge the b-boys, b-girls, and freestyle dancers. I don’t rely on pre-recorded playlists. My approach is to curate a live journey, mixing hip-hop, funk, jungle, and desi grooves to create a soundscape that pushes performers to their limits.
I treat every set as a conversation. I watch the floor closely, pick up on the dancers' reactions, and drop tracks that switch the BPMs or change the genre exactly when the energy peaks. This is the 'Slw Drift' philosophy: keeping the rhythm honest, raw, and ready for any style of movement.
Whether you are hosting a community jam, a professional dance competition, or an event that requires that specific, unpredictable battle energy, I come equipped with the technical knowledge to read a room and keep the floor buzzing. My gear setup includes a professional Pioneer controller and interface, and I’m always ready to adapt to the venue’s sound system, whether it’s a massive festival stage in Delhi or an intimate underground session.
