About Behind The Booth & The Vibe
Behind the confetti and the pyro, there is a lot of prep that goes into every set. Whether it is syncing my tracks with the venue LED screens or managing sound checks to ensure the bass hits right, I am always in the thick of it. My job is not just to play music, but to command the room from start to finish.
Being a DJ in Bengaluru is not just about showing up with a USB and hitting play. It is a 9-5 of a different kind. For me, it starts with the technical grind. When I show up for a headline show, I am working with venue sound engineers to make sure my signature Bolly-Tech mashups hit with the right impact. I am particular about the technical rider, ensuring we have the right Pioneer CDJ setup so there is zero downtime between tracks.
Then, there is the crowd work. My style relies on being present. You will see me on the mic, keeping the energy up during a 4-hour open format set or handling a massive festival crowd of 8,000 people. It is about reading the vibe. If the energy dips, I am already dropping a fresh Punjabi remix to bring it back.
I have learned that the best moments are unplanned. Like the time I had to break my fast mid-set during a gig at Wonderla—the energy from the crowd kept me going. It is that connection with people, from the students at fests to the regulars at club nights, that makes this journey worth it. I am grateful for the mentors like Sonu DS who helped me get here, and for the support of my family.
