Bringing a dog home is a massive life change. Before you pick a breed or browse adoption listings, let's have an honest conversation about your routine, your home, and whether you are actually ready for the commitment.

This is what pre-adoption counseling looks like. I sit down with families to have an honest conversation about what bringing a dog into their life truly means. We look at their lifestyle, their home, their expectations, and the detailed checklist they've prepared to find the right path for them, even if that path means waiting. It’s all about setting both the family and their future dog up for a lifetime of happiness.

Hi, I'm Nivedita. My journey into dog training started with my own fearful rescue dog, and it taught me the power of patience and understanding. I am here to be your coach and advocate, helping you build a confident, positive relationship with your dog from day one.

My commitment to reward-based training is deeply personal. Early in my career, I saw the damage that punitive, force-based methods can do to a dog's spirit. That experience solidified my mission: to create a safe, positive, and effective training environment where dogs and their parents can thrive together, built on trust, not fear.

A common myth I hear is that everyone should adopt an Indy dog. While I love and respect this intelligent breed, they are not a shortcut. Like any dog, they require commitment, training, and an understanding of their unique needs to truly do them justice. My goal is to help you see beyond the labels and find a dog that genuinely fits your life.

It's easy to expect puppies to behave like calm, adult dogs, but the reality is they are babies learning about the world. They will be messy, they will test boundaries, and they will need your patience. Part of my counseling is helping you embrace the beautiful chaos of puppyhood and set realistic expectations for your new family member.

Receiving messages like this from fellow pet professionals makes my day. It's a reminder of why I am so passionate about educating pet parents on ethical, science-based training methods. Building a community that stands against harmful, outdated practices is at the heart of what I do.

There's a harmful myth that "ferocious" or strong breeds need a heavy hand and force to be controlled. The truth is, they need clear guidance, patience, and an outlet for their instincts. This is Tiana, an American Bully, learning to walk calmly on a loose leash through positive reinforcement, proving that kindness is always more powerful than force.

Sometimes the most important thing we can do for our city dogs is give them a break from the concrete jungle. A simple roll in the grass or a walk in nature does wonders for their mental well-being and reduces stress. A happy, relaxed dog is a dog that is ready to learn and bond with you.

This isn't about telling you what you want to hear. My pre-adoption counseling is a deep dive into your actual lifestyle—not your ideal one—to see if a dog fits right now. Whether that means matching you with a breed that handles your work hours or advising you to wait, we will make sure you don't bring a dog home until you are both set up to thrive.
