My Coaching Philosophy: No-Nonsense Fitness Truths

Forget the cheerleading. This is about real talk, evidence-based habits, and understanding that you either pay the price of consistency now or pay the fine of poor health later.

A sarcastic guide on how to stay unfit. If you want to ensure your health deteriorates, just play the blame game, increase your stress, and sit at home all day staring at a screen. This is my reverse-psychology take on the common habits that hold people back.

Just because someone looks fit doesn't mean their habits are healthy. This series points out toxic fitness traits, like exercising to "burn off" what you ate or program hopping constantly. Real training is about specificity and consistency, not punishment.

This series expands on my "Fee vs. Fine" philosophy. For everything from improved strength to good mobility, there's an upfront cost (the fee) and a long-term consequence (the fine). Paying the fee of initial soreness and battling inertia is always cheaper than paying the fine of weakness and injury later in life.

About this collection

You think fitness is about punishing yourself for what you ate, but that’s just a recipe for a dysfunctional relationship with your body. My coaching is based on one clear principle: specificity. We use progressive overload to track your lifts, we prioritize compound movements because they move the needle, and we treat your training as a skill to be mastered, not a chore to be completed. If you want a cheerleader, look elsewhere. If you want a coach who teaches you how to own your strength, we can get to work.

The fitness industry thrives on confusion, but getting in shape is surprisingly simple: it’s just not easy.

The Fee vs. Fine Philosophy

Everything in life has an upfront cost (the fee) or a long-term penalty (the fine). You can pay the fee of disciplined strength training, proper mobility work, and consistent sleep hygiene today. Or, you can wait and pay the fine of chronic aches, limited mobility, and the inevitable decline of your health later. My coaching is designed to help you pay the fee, consistently and effectively.

Why Training Beats 'Exercise'

Most people exercise to burn off dinner. That’s a path to guilt and burnout. I teach you to train for specificity. Whether your goal is hypertrophy, absolute strength, or simply fixing that desk-job posture, we focus on:

  • Progressive Overload: Tracking your RPE and hitting your reps so you beat your previous performance every session.
  • Skill Acquisition: We treat lifts like skills. We refine your squat and deadlift form so you stop guessing and start lifting safely.
  • Injury Management: Having rehabilitated my own back issues, I prioritize mobility drills that actually work, swapping movements rather than pushing through dangerous pain.

My Coaching Approach

I don’t do cookie-cutter programs. Whether you sign up for my self-paced strength plan or 1:1 coaching with video analysis, you get a structure that fits your life. No crazy restrictions, no magic pills—just 3 to 4 sessions a week designed to help you understand your body and own your strength. If you are done with fads and ready for real effort, let’s talk.
