Arangetram 2024: Ceramic Art Exhibition and Sale
Our annual debut showcase where students transition from learners to ceramic artists, displaying months of dedicated practice and creative exploration.
A preview of the beautiful and diverse ceramic art featured in our Arangetram 2024 exhibition. We invite you to come celebrate clay and creativity with our talented community of artists.
We asked our Arangetram artists to share their favorite pieces from their collections. Hear the personal stories and inspirations behind their incredible work.
Even with our exhibition prep in full swing, we always find time for some fun at the studio. Here's our pottery community's take on a fun trend.
A stunning collection of wheel thrown and handbuilt forms by artist Yang. Her work, inspired by wabi sabi and imperfection, includes functional lamps and vases with organic shapes.
Meet Yang, one of our Arangetram artists. Her work is inspired by the acceptance of imperfection, using wheel composite techniques to create flowing, natural forms.
A close up of one of Yang's unique, handbuilt pieces. Her work reflects her curiosity and individuality, a journey that began with making mini mud stupas with her grandparents.
"Marine Marvels" by artist Siri. This collection features intricate, non functional pieces like this pufferfish and textured bottle, inspired by the beauty and mystery of marine life.
About this collection
The Arangetram is not just an exhibition. It is the culmination of months spent at the wheel, testing glazes, and refining form. When you visit, you are not just seeing finished pottery. You are seeing the result of countless hours of trial and error, from wedging the clay to the final glaze firing at Cone 6. Each collection here represents a student's personal growth, technical challenges overcome, and the specific aesthetic voice they have developed at our studio.
Arangetram is the hallmark of our community at Clay Station. It represents the 'hunar' (skill) that our students have nurtured through our foundation courses and workshops. This showcase is where our artists move from the learning phase to presenting their work to the real world.
This year’s showcase features a diverse range of collections. You will see Yang’s work, which is deeply rooted in the wabi-sabi philosophy, utilizing wheel composite techniques to create organic, flowing forms. Then there is Siri, whose 'Marine Marvels' collection captures the intricate textures and fluid forms of ocean life through handbuilding and detailed carving. Rachna’s series, 'Me, you, We,' uses terracotta to explore companionship, celebrating the beauty of raw, unglazed surfaces. Bhubneswar brings his tribal heritage from Assam into the studio, blending traditional Bodo craftsmanship with modern design utility.
Whether you are a collector looking for one-of-a-kind functional art or a fellow pottery enthusiast, Arangetram offers a unique look at how different artists approach clay. Everything you see—the glazes, the forms, the textures—was fired right here in our Koramangala studio. We encourage you to walk through these collections to see how our materials, from our standard stoneware bodies to our specialty glazes like Pirate Black and Copper Patina, translate into finished art. If you are inspired by what you see and want to start your own pottery journey, our team is happy to discuss our upcoming foundation courses and studio access options.
Clay Station
We believe every mark on clay tells a story, and there is no better way to see that in action than our Arangetram. It is where our students step into the light, sharing the work they have poured their hearts into over the last few months. Come by to meet the makers, hear their inspirations, and take home a piece of their journey.
