Arangetram: Student Ceramic Showcase

byClay StationStudio at Koramangala, BengaluruView full gallery

Arangetram is our yearly celebration where our students reveal their hard-earned creations. It is a space to see raw clay transformed into art and meet the community behind the pieces.

The energy in the studio is always buzzing as we prepare for Arangetram. This is a glimpse of our team and students working together to set up the space for our biggest community event of the year.

From the final touches on a piece to setting up displays, the preparation for Arangetram is a community effort. It's a time of intense focus and joyful collaboration as we get ready to share our students' work.

Even with all the hard work, we always find time for some fun. Our potters share a laugh while getting ready for the Arangetram exhibition, reminding us that the journey is just as important as the destination.

Meet Rachna, one of the artists featured in Arangetram 2024. A solopreneur, she finds a meditative escape in hand-building, and her work reflects her journey of self-discovery through clay.

This series of unglazed terracotta figures, titled 'Me, you, We', was created by Rachna. Each piece symbolizes companionship and individuality, celebrating the beauty of togetherness.

We are proud to feature Hazel, a graphic designer and potter, at Arangetram. Her art blends deep observation with creative storytelling, turning everyday beauty into unique ceramic forms.

Prasanna rediscovered her passion for pottery at our studio, finding it a go-to for relieving stress. Her work, often inspired by her childhood fascination with vases, showcases her journey toward mindfulness through clay.

About this collection

When you walk into our Koramangala studio during Arangetram, you are not just looking at pottery; you are seeing months of foundation courses, glaze experiments, and personal breakthroughs. Every piece on display here was fired in our electric kilns, often by students who walked in as total beginners looking for a creative outlet.

From Foundation to Exhibition

Arangetram is the culmination of the work our students do throughout the year. Whether they started with our 5-month foundation pottery course or joined us for short, intensive hand-building workshops, this event marks their transition from learners to exhibitors.

Why We Host Arangetram

We believe pottery is a journey. When a student spends weeks centering clay on the wheel or meticulously glazing a mug, they are telling a story. Arangetram gives them a platform to share that story. It is not just an exhibition; it is an opportunity for our community to interact, see different techniques like sgraffito or sculpting, and understand the effort that goes into every piece of functional ware.

A Community Effort

Preparation for Arangetram happens right here in our Koramangala studio. You will see students and mentors working side-by-side to set up displays and finish final pieces. It captures the essence of what we do at Clay Station—balancing the technical rigour of kiln firing at 1220°C with the pure joy of working with one's hands.

Featured Artists and Journeys

We take pride in the diverse group of people who make up our studio. From professionals like Rachna and Akanksha, who balance their careers with their passion for clay, to those who use pottery as a therapeutic escape, like Prasanna and Dhedeepya. Their work, ranging from intricate drinkware to abstract terracotta figures, showcases the 'hunar' (skill) that we nurture every day.
