About Special Occasion Murabbas
These aren't your typical store-bought preserves. I prepare my Royal Mix by hand, carefully layering candied papaya, red karonda cherries, and almonds, then finishing each jar with edible silver leaf and a hint of saffron. It takes time to get the sugar syrup consistency just right, but that is what makes it feel like home.
I make these murabbas as a festive treat, something that looks as good as it tastes. When I say they are perfect for gifting, I mean it—I pack them in sturdy, transparent jars that keep the fruit and the delicate silver leaf garnish safe while shipping anywhere in India.
The Royal Mix is my favorite to make because it is so colourful. I use high-quality candied papaya cubes and red karonda cherries that add a nice, chewy texture. To make it extra special, I add roasted sesame seeds for a bit of crunch and use real cardamom essence and saffron strands to give it that rich aroma. You won't find any chemical preservatives or artificial thickeners in my kitchen. Everything is made using sugar syrup that I simmer until it reaches the perfect translucent, jam-like consistency.
Whether you are buying this for a Diwali hamper, a wedding favor, or just to have something special on your breakfast table, you can trust that it is made with clean, fresh ingredients. Since 2006, my process has stayed the same—small batches, old family recipes, and no shortcuts. If you are planning a large event or want to send these as gifts, reach out early so I can prepare a fresh batch for you.
