About Festive Tablescapes

When designing these sets, I recommend thinking about the contrast between your tablecloth and your centerpiece. Since I use vintage scraps and studio offcuts for my patchwork runners, every piece is essentially a one-off—we cannot perfectly replicate a design once the fabric is gone. If you have a specific event approaching, we should connect a few weeks in advance to source the right heritage textiles for your table.

Creating a festive tablescape is about more than just setting a table, it is about building a narrative for your gathering. Whether you are hosting an intimate dinner or a larger family celebration, the linens provide the canvas for your memories. My approach to tablescapes involves blending different textile traditions: pairing the vibrant, dotted geometry of Kutch Bandhani with the rich, structural integrity of Banarasi brocade.

The Anatomy of a Festive Set

Each set is custom-tailored to the dimensions of your dining table. I typically start with a base of raw silk or heavy cotton, chosen for its drape and durability. I then layer in patchwork runners, pieced together from heritage scraps that are too precious to discard. This is where my zero-waste philosophy comes into play. I ensure that high-value offcuts—a bit of leftover silk, a snippet of zari lace, or a vintage border—are given a new life rather than ending up as waste.

Design & Materials

  • Fabrics: I use a mix of pure raw silk, Gajji silk, and vintage brocade. These fabrics are chosen for their ability to catch the light, especially when paired with diyas or candles.
  • Customization: We will work together on the color palette. If your home has a specific aesthetic—perhaps muted earthy tones or vibrant jewel colors—I can select fabrics that complement your interior.
  • Care: These are artisanal pieces. I provide specific instructions on how to care for the delicate zaris and silk, ensuring these runners and mats last for many seasons.

Because every set uses unique vintage elements, no two tablescapes are identical. They are slow-made, requiring patience and a deep appreciation for the textile history embedded in every thread.
