About Student Champions & Tournament Winners

True chess mastery comes from analyzing where things went wrong. We teach our students to review every tournament game systematically, breaking down tactical mistakes and calculation errors, which transforms competitive pressure into clear, actionable progress on the board.

Success in competitive chess is rarely accidental. When our students enter rapid chess tournaments or district-level selections, they bring more than just enthusiasm; they bring a structured opening repertoire and the ability to manage time under pressure.

Our training methodology, led by FIDE-rated coaches Arvind Iyer and Ojas Kulkarni, focuses on the high-intensity nature of tournament play. We do not just teach pieces and moves. We simulate match conditions using professional DGT clocks, ensuring that when our students face an opponent at a venue like Prestige Tranquility or a state-level championship, they are already accustomed to the ticking clock.

We believe that reviewing a loss is more valuable than celebrating a win. Every student at Catch64 learns to annotate their games and identify where their calculation failed. This habit of self-correction allows players to advance from beginner categories to open and rated tournaments, often achieving their first FIDE rating sooner than they expected. Whether a student is six years old or an adult aiming for a new ELO milestone, our focus remains on providing rigorous feedback that applies directly to their next tournament performance.
