About Bronze Casting Workshops (Lost-Wax Technique)
For us, bronze casting is not just about making art - it’s a way to connect with something deeper. Every piece we create is a mix of tradition, patience, and a bit of faith. If you’ve ever wanted to try your hand at Chola bronze sculpture making, this is your chance.
What Happens in the Workshop
We walk you through the full journey, from wax to finished bronze. You’ll get your hands dirty with our traditional wax blend, shape your own model, and see how the lost-wax casting process works. The steps are simple but need focus:
- Wax modeling (bee’s wax, resin, oil)
- Layering clay for the mold
- Melting out the wax (the “lost” part)
- Pouring molten bronze or Panchaloha
- Breaking the mold, then chiseling and polishing
You’ll learn how to create a sacred icon in the South Indian sculpture techniques style, and finish it with your own touch. The process is slow, sometimes messy, but that’s part of the magic.
Who Should Join

My Story
We are from Kumbakonam, land of Cholas, and for us, Swamimalai bronze icons are not just work - it's our way of holding on to our roots. You’ll hear us chanting, sometimes, 'Bhaktharukku bhakthi vilakku, Samayapurathu sakthi vilakku.' This is our spiritual calling, not just business. Each piece is slow-made, with devotion and hands that respect tradition. Hope you feel that divinity in our art.
