Design Portfolio Development and Art Masterclass Showcase
Explore the range of technical skills we build at BrainArt Studio, from fundamental sketching for NID and NIFT portfolios to expressive acrylics and traditional Tanjore painting.
This stunning recreation of Gustave Caillebotte’s "Paris Street; Rainy Day" is a portfolio piece from one of my students. We worked together to master two-point perspective, complex composition, and the interplay of light and shadow to bring this classic scene to life with acrylics. This is the level of work that gets you noticed by top design schools.
Sketching is about learning to see. In this session, I guide students through the process of drawing objects in perspective, starting with basic shapes and moving to complex forms like this car. We practice both on paper and digitally to build a versatile skill set for any design field.
Observational drawing is a cornerstone of a strong portfolio. This detailed beetle sketch shows a mastery of pencil shading, texture, and proportion. I teach students to look closely at the world around them, from bugs to teacups, and translate it onto the page with precision.
Here, my students are tackling a fun challenge: painting food from an aerial perspective. This exercise teaches them to think about composition, light, and texture in a new way. Using acrylic blending techniques, they learn to make their subjects look realistic and delicious.
Design isn't just two-dimensional. In this project, students build 3D models of rooms, learning about scale, area, and perimeter in a hands-on way. This kind of spatial thinking is essential for aspiring architects, interior designers, and product designers.
A great portfolio tells a story. Here, we're diving into the world of manga and comic creation, focusing on character development, expressions, and storyboarding. This helps students learn how to communicate narratives visually, a key skill for animation, illustration, and communication design.
This completed Tanjore painting of Goddess Lakshmi showcases incredible discipline and attention to detail. While a traditional art form, mastering techniques like 24K gold foil application and intricate line work demonstrates a level of patience and skill that is highly valued in any design portfolio.
About this collection
What you see here is the result of focused, one-on-one guidance rather than generic group instruction. We prioritize understanding the fundamentals—perspective, light, and composition—so that your portfolio does not just look pretty, but demonstrates real design aptitude for top schools.
Most art classes focus on copying an image until it looks right. At BrainArt Studio, we take a different approach. We believe that to build a design portfolio that stands out to NID, NIFT, or UCEED examiners, you need to understand the 'why' behind every line and color. Whether you are sketching a complex industrial object or building a 3D model, we focus on training your eye to deconstruct what you see.
Our studio in HSR Layout is designed for this process. We treat sketching as an essential discipline, covering proportion, shading, and texture before moving to more complex mediums like acrylics or canvas work. For design aspirants, we go beyond simple drawing. We dive into spatial thinking, character development for storyboards, and even traditional techniques like Tanjore painting to build the versatility that design colleges look for.
This isn't just about completing a single piece of art; it is about learning how to present your ideas. We help students curate their best work, teaching them how to organize a portfolio that reflects their unique voice. If you are preparing for an entrance exam, we provide the structured feedback needed to refine your output. If you are a hobbyist, we offer the same technical rigor in a supportive, relaxed environment. From understanding how light hits a cup to the complex geometry of a 3D model, we build the skills that turn 'drawing' into a deliberate act of creation.
BrainArt Studio
I am the founder of BrainArt Studio, and I believe art is a language everyone can speak if they are given the right tools. We are not about copying images here; we are about helping you find your creative voice, whether you are building a college portfolio or just picking up a brush for the first time.
