Creative Writing Retreats in Bengaluru: Our Community
Writing is a solitary act, but it does not have to be a lonely one. At our retreats, we balance intense craft sessions with the kind of friendship that only forms over shared meals, spontaneous games, and late-night story breakthroughs.
The pure joy of seeing our work in the world. This is the after party at the Bengaluru Poetry Festival, celebrating our new book. Some of these writers had just met, but the shared passion for literature creates an instant, magical connection.
Celebrating the end of a workshop with a graduation picnic. We believe in marking milestones, and nothing does that better than sharing good food and laughter together. This is what our writing community is all about.
Our workshops are more than just classes; they become a family. I was so touched when my Leopards workshop group surprised me with a birthday cake. These are the moments that show how deep the bonds we form truly go.
There is always time for cake. Here, we paused a session to celebrate a birthday within our Leopards group. These small celebrations are a huge part of building a supportive and nurturing community for writers.
About Our Community: Work, Play, Celebrate
You will not find sterile classrooms here. When we gather for these four-day retreats, the boundaries between mentor and student blur. You are here to write, but expect to be pulled into a group dinner, a heated debate about a plot point, or a birthday celebration mid-workshop. We build this structure because I know that writing feels heavy when you carry it alone, but it becomes lighter and much better when you have a tribe to help you carry it.
Our retreats are designed for the writer who is tired of staring at a blank page alone. We take you out of the city and into green spaces, like the Gudlu Resort, where the only distraction is the sound of other writers working. The agenda is intentional. We combine deep-work hours with peer critique circles because I want you to leave with more than just a draft; I want you to leave with clarity.
Here is how we spend our time:
- Deep Work: Expect to write for 8 to 10 hours a day. We use role-play, scene reading, and generative sprints to break through blocks.
- Real Connection: This is not a silent library. We have evening games, dance-offs, and plenty of chai breaks where you actually get to know the person sitting next to you.
- The 'Leopards' Approach: Groups like our 'Leopards' workshop show how tight-knit this gets. We celebrate birthdays, mark milestones, and create a support system that lasts long after you return home.
Whether you opt for twin sharing to be in the thick of the dorm-style bonding or a private cottage for solitude, you are part of the BWW family the moment you arrive. My goal is to help you stop being a serial first-drafter and start finishing your work with the support of people who actually care.
