Join us at the iconic hills of Ramanagara for our annual 18-hour endurance festival, where the goal isn't just winning, but pushing your limits with a community that cheers you on.

A look back at the very first Ramanagara Romp in the summer of 2016. We had 24 climbers from all over South India who collectively climbed nearly 20,000 vertical feet in under 18 hours. It's amazing to see how much our community has grown since then.

This film, "Namma Betta" (Our Rocks), tells the story of Bangalore's climbing history through the lens of our annual Romp. It shows how we mentor new climbers, like Divya, and bring our whole community together to celebrate on the rock.

The Romp is full of fun, spontaneous challenges. Here, Subhash from Team 12 dares Gopika from Team 5 to perform a hands-free rest while on lead. Of course, she nailed it.

The friendly rivalries are what make the Romp so much fun. Here's Amit issuing a challenge to Sohan, the "master of Bangalore slabs," to climb a 5.9 route barefoot.

Challenge accepted. Sohan takes on the barefoot slab challenge and raises the stakes for Amit: either send a 5.10a barefoot or buy the beers. This is the spirit of the Romp.

It's always great to hear from climbers like Nirav. He joined us for ROMP 2024 and perfectly describes the generous, energetic, and welcoming spirit of the Bangalore climbing community that we work so hard to foster.

Akash shares his excitement for his first Romp, happening in his hometown of Ramanagara. It's stories like his, of discovering the community and finding a new level of passion for the sport, that fuel us.

Meet Senthil, a sports photographer who uses climbing and the Romp to face his fear of heights. It's inspiring to see people push their personal boundaries, both on and off the rock.

Utkarsh, an outdoor filmmaker, sums it up perfectly. We wait all year for the Romp to meet friends, catch up with the community, and just have too much fun at the crag.

A quick rapid-fire Q&A with Geeta at the Achalu Crag during the Romp. It's these little moments, getting to know your fellow climbers, that make the event more than just a competition.

About The Ramanagara Romp: Our Annual Endurance Fest

The Romp isn't just a competition; it’s 18 hours of non-stop climbing across Ramanagara’s granite domes. Whether you are leading your first 5.7 or projecting a technical 5.11, the format is designed so you set your own pace, supported by the best community in the city. You will find yourself logging pitches, swapping beta, and catching up over community meals at the base of the crags.

The Ramanagara Romp started in 2016 with just 24 climbers, and it has since grown into a massive endurance festival that draws people from all over South India. The core concept is simple: you have 18 hours to accumulate as many vertical feet, pitches, and lead climbs as possible across our curated crags like Senapathy, Achalu, and Gowda’s Farm.

Why the Romp is different

We strip away the rigid formality of typical sports competitions. Instead, you get a festival vibe where the rivalry is friendly and the support is constant. If you are a beginner, it is the perfect environment to get more time on rock. If you are an experienced climber, it is a chance to test your stamina and push your grades on real rock.

We provide the logistics, including forest permits, marked routes, and a basecamp with community meals and a bonfire. You just bring your climbing kit, your psyche, and your willingness to try hard.

What to expect

  • Routes for everyone: Grades range from accessible 5.7 slabs to technical 5.11 faces.
  • Community support: Expect cheers of 'Aale aale!' whether you are cruising or struggling on a crux.
  • The Vibe: It is non-stop action. Even if you aren't climbing, you are likely spotting, belaying, or cheering on your team.
  • Logistics: Your ticket covers two days of access, campsite spots, forest department fees, and meals.

We are committed to growing the Bangalore climbing scene responsibly, and the Romp is our way of creating a space where the next generation of climbers feels welcome and safe. Come for the climbs, stay for the stories.

We are BCI, a collective of climbers who just got hooked on the local rocks. We started this to build the community we always wanted—safe, inclusive, and always cheering for the next send. You’ll find us out on the crags every weekend, probably yelling 'Aale aale!' as loud as we can.
