Technical Climbs and Top Ascents
From powerful bouldering problems to technical sport routes around Bangalore, this is where we document the sends that define our community’s progression on the rock.
An incredible moment as Charan sends 'Rush Hour' (5.13a/b), a route first established as a highball by the legendary Bharath. This was a huge moment for our community, showcasing creative problem-solving and next-level climbing.
The 'High Noon' (5.10d) crack is a classic test-piece at Yedumadu, and watching Charan and Dave send it is always a treat. It's a benchmark route for anyone looking to push their intermediate crack climbing skills.
A throwback to 2019 when Bharath highballed 'Yabadabadoo' (5.12b/c) with the support of 25 people and 10 crash pads. The deafening silence during the climb, followed by the eruption of cheers, was a historic moment for Bangalore climbing.
Charan's send of 'Agnipariksha' (7B/V8) at Yedumadu, which translates to 'trial by fire'. This powerful bouldering line, first opened by Bharath, lives up to its name with a series of difficult moves.
Gowri continues to push the standards, sending the 'Surface Traverse' (7C/V9) in Hampi. We are always inspired by her strength and dedication, and she's a role model for so many of us.
Charan making the first ascent of 'Morning Glory' (5.11a/b) at Twin Towers, Yedumadu. It's always exciting to see our climbers establish new, challenging routes for the community to enjoy.
Joshua reprising the first ascent of 'Matchmaker' (5.11b), a technical and challenging route at Twin Towers. The beta for the top-out is "slopy as fuck," which tells you everything you need to know.
Abhijeet on the first ascent of 'Undercling Barnie' (5.10c/d) at Redeemer Rock. This route requires some tricky undercling moves and is a great addition to the sport lines at the Upper Domes.
Here's a look at the unique and engaging movement on 'Superman', a recently established line at the Upper Domes. It's a tricky one to grade, with some procrustean moves that are either fun or frustrating depending on your height.
Raghava making the spicy 5.10b climb 'Prema’s chapathi dough' look easy. The name itself tells you it's a route with a story.
About Technical Climbs & Top Ascents
Establishing new routes in areas like Yedumadu isn't just about putting up bolts; it's about interpreting the rock's character. Whether you are trying to crack the code on a technical sport line like 'Matchmaker' or projecting a highball bouldering problem, our community thrives on sharing the beta. If you are looking to push your grade or understand the nuances of a new crag, come out with us on a weekend.
Building the Bangalore Scene
Our focus isn't just on repeating established classics; we are deeply invested in route development. You will find our community actively scrubbing, bolting, and refining lines at crags like the Upper Domes and Twin Towers. When we add a new sport line like 'Undercling Barnie' or 'Superman' to the map, it is done with the intention of giving back to the community—providing safe, challenging, and varied movement for climbers to test their mettle.
Navigating the Grade
We don’t believe in gatekeeping. Whether you are warming up on a 5.7 or working on a spicy 5.12, the project is yours to define. We document these technical sends not for ego, but to inspire. When you watch a climber like Charan work a highball or see Gowri crush a 7C in Hampi, you are seeing the result of persistence.
Safety & Community
Every technical climb you see here is supported by a community that drills safety. We take knots, belay techniques, and equipment checks seriously so that the psyche remains high and the risks managed. From the first ascent to the fiftieth, our goal is to maintain these crags as spaces where anyone can try, fail, learn, and eventually send. Whether you need a spotter for a highball or someone to give you the beta on a reachy crux, we’ve got your back. Aale aale!
