About Yoga & Meditation In Practice
We don't follow a rigid studio schedule here. Our practice flows with the time of day: you will alternate between dynamic Hatha sessions to build strength and focus, and quiet, introspective Yin Yoga or Yoga Nidra in the evenings to release deep-seated tension. Whether you are learning proper Sirshasana (headstand) alignment or sitting for morning meditation on our riverside patio, every session is designed to connect your physical practice back to your breath and the surrounding nature.
A Practice Rooted in Nature
Our yoga practice is not just about the mat; it is an extension of the life we live on our 18-acre riverside farm. When you join us, you enter a space that is designed for quiet contemplation. The environment itself is a teacher. You might find yourself practicing pranayama—like Anuloma Viloma—as the sun sets over the Kabini river, or refining your asana practice in our open-air Chakra Hall.
What We Focus On
- Dynamic Hatha & Strength: We emphasize the foundations of Hatha yoga. This means moving with intention, focusing on proper alignment, and understanding the anatomy of the pose rather than rushing to reach a final shape.
- Yin & Deep Release: In the evenings, we shift to Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra. These practices are essential for balancing the nervous system, helping you move from the 'doing' mode of daily life into a state of 'being.'
- Meditation Methodology: We treat meditation as a practical skill. It is not about silencing the mind, but about using thought to steer your focus. We provide the theory behind these techniques, teaching you how to center, witness, and employ prana to deepen your meditative experience.
- Individualized Attention: Because we operate as a small community, our teachers are able to provide hands-on adjustments. Whether you are working on inversions like handstands or just beginning your journey with basic stretches, you will receive guidance that respects your current ability.
We encourage students to take time for journaling and self-reflection in our dining area, processing the experiences of the day. This is a place to step away from distractions, engage with a supportive community of like-minded souls, and return to your daily life with a renewed sense of clarity.
