Wedding Makeup and Planning Tips for Your Big Day
Planning your wedding can feel overwhelming, so I am sharing some practical, real-world advice to help you stay stress-free, organized, and camera-ready.
Planning a pre-wedding shoot? Here are a few of my top tips to make it a success. From creating a mood board to scheduling your day, a little planning goes a long way in getting those dream shots.
About Pro Tips for Your Big Day
If you are planning a pre-wedding shoot, keep your outfit changes to a minimum. Most couples try to pack their day with five or six looks, but you end up spending more time in the vanity van than actually enjoying the session. Aim for two or three well-thought-out outfits instead. You will get better-quality photos because you are relaxed and present, not rushed.
Here are a few more things that help make the planning process smoother, whether it is for a pre-wedding shoot or your main wedding day:
- Sync your mood board: Create a clear visual guide for your photographer and makeup artist. When everyone understands your vision beforehand, you spend less time explaining on the day and more time enjoying the process.
- The emergency kit is non-negotiable: Pack a small pouch with safety pins, bobby pins, tissues, and a touch-up lipstick. If you are shooting outdoors, add hydration and a small portable fan. Being prepared saves you from small stresses that can ruin the mood.
- Respect the golden hour: For sunrise or sunset shots, arrive at your venue 15 minutes before the light hits. You cannot replicate that natural glow in post-production, so make sure you are ready when the light is.
- Schedule a trial run: If you are unsure about a look—whether it is a bold red lip or a specific hairstyle—do a practice session. It gives you the chance to see how the products sit on your skin throughout the day.
Ultimately, my goal is to make sure you look like yourself, just a bit more polished. We can chat about your outfits, your venue lighting, and your personal style during our 'Chit Chat and Glow' session so we have a solid plan in place before any event starts.
