3D Relief Murals and Mixed-Media Art in Bengaluru
I bring walls to life using clay, texture, and unexpected materials. From intricate 3D deity sculptures to portraits made of metal screws, I create art that you can physically feel.
This is my signature 3D clay mural work, showing the creation of an Ardhanarishvara sculpture. You can see the process of shaping the clay, adding intricate details with tools, painting the finished form, and installing it on a client's home, adding incredible depth and texture.
A demonstration of how I create art from unexpected materials. This Freddie Mercury portrait was made by drilling thousands of metal screws into a board to create a pixelated image, which was then carefully spray-painted. It's a fusion of industrial material and fine art.
About Beyond the Brush: 3D & Mixed-Media Art
When I work on a 3D clay mural, it is not just about applying material to the wall. I spend time sculpting textures, such as the ornaments or facial expressions on deities, that catch the light and create depth. Keep in mind that for these relief pieces, we need 10 to 15 days for the material to cure properly. It is a slow process, but that time is necessary so the art stays durable for years to come.
My approach to 3D art is grounded in the belief that a wall should have a pulse. When you look at my 3D relief murals, you will notice the raised surfaces, typically 0.5 to 1 inch in depth, which create natural shadows that change throughout the day. I primarily use high-strength mural clay or epoxy compounds for this work, ensuring that the final piece is not only visually striking but also physically robust.
For those looking for something modern and industrial, I also experiment with mixed-media portraits. One of my recent projects involved using thousands of metal screws to build a high-contrast image, creating a pixelated effect that looks entirely different when viewed from up close versus from a distance. Whether I am crafting a traditional Ardhanarishvara sculpture or an industrial pop-culture portrait, the process remains consistent: I prioritize high-end blending, metallic finishing, and a protective varnish or matte top-coat to ensure longevity.
Since these works require careful handling and curing time, I ask clients to plan at least two weeks ahead. I protect your flooring and furniture with drop cloths before I start, and for pieces executed on panels, I manage the mounting as well. If you have a specific idea for a textured feature wall in your home or office, I am happy to discuss how we can adapt these materials to suit your space.
