Textured & Relief Murals
Go beyond flat paint with 3D relief murals. Using textures, gold foil, and raised elements, I create dynamic surfaces that bring a new dimension to your home.
This framed artwork is a hybrid of painting, 3D piping, and gold foil application. The tropical leaves have a raised texture that catches the light differently, creating a piece that feels both organic and incredibly luxurious.
This video shows the completed modern relief artwork from different angles. You can see how the light interacts with the raised spheres and the clean, framed finish integrates seamlessly with the home's modern interior design.
An angled view of the symmetrical relief sculpture. This perspective highlights how the artwork occupies the space and complements the surrounding architectural elements like the glass railing and textured wall panel.
Another shot of the finished relief art, showing its placement in the context of the curved staircase. The piece was designed to be a point of interest as you move between floors, adding a touch of custom elegance.
About Textured & Relief Murals
When planning a 3D relief mural for your space, remember that lighting is everything. I often use modeling paste and gesso to create raised elements that cast their own shadows throughout the day. This means the piece you see in the morning will look different in the evening, changing the entire mood of your room without you doing a thing.
Adding depth to a wall is not just about adding colour. It is about physical dimension. My relief murals use a mix of modeling paste and heavy-duty clay compounds to build shapes that sit off the surface. This is a multi-stage process where we layer the material, let it cure, and then finish it with a coat of protective varnish to ensure it lasts for years.
For that touch of luxury, I incorporate gold or copper foil. This creates a metallic lustre that catches light from different angles, making the artwork feel dynamic. Whether you want a geometric pattern for a contemporary office lobby or delicate, raised botanical elements for a bedroom feature wall, the method remains the same—precision application and high-quality materials. I build these on sturdy pine or meranti wooden backings to ensure they stay secure on your wall.
Most of my relief work is designed to be interactive with your room lighting. I always recommend placing these pieces where ambient light—either from a window or focused track lighting—can hit the texture directly. This brings out the shadows and highlights, giving your interior that layered, custom look. If you are in Bengaluru, we can even discuss the site layout to ensure the piece fits your wall proportions perfectly.
