Traditional Indian Hand-Painted Art
Bringing cultural stories to life through handmade Kerala murals, Theyyam, and Kalamkari. Each piece is a personal celebration of Indian heritage, crafted to add a classic touch to your home.
This Kathakali face is painted with acrylics on an 8x8 inch stretched canvas. I focused on capturing the dramatic green, red, and white makeup, which signifies a heroic and divine character in this traditional Keralan dance form.
My painting of a Theyyam performer, a divine artist from Kerala. The artwork highlights the striking headgear and facial colors that are central to the transformation of the artist into a living god during the ritual.
Inspired by the ancient textile art of Kalamkari, this peacock is filled with detailed motifs and patterns. I used a warm color palette to reflect the natural dyes often used in this traditional craft, creating a piece that feels both classic and vibrant.
This piece is my take on the Kerala mural style, depicting Lord Krishna among lotus flowers. I used the characteristic colors and flowing lines of this art form to create a serene and devotional scene, perfect for a peaceful corner of your home.
A colorful and contemporary painting of Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. I blended bright, warm, and cool tones in the background to give this traditional depiction a modern feel, while keeping the focus on his calm and benevolent expression.
About Traditional Indian Art
Because every piece is hand-painted on rigid canvas boards, I typically need about 4 to 7 days to complete your work and apply the protective varnish finish. This process keeps the colors vibrant and ensures your Kerala mural or Kathakali portrait stays protected for years.
I create each piece from scratch, focusing on the specific cultural stories behind forms like Theyyam and Kathakali. When you commission a painting, we start by discussing your theme—whether you want a serene mural-style Krishna or a bold, dramatic Kathakali face for your living space.
I work primarily on 8x8 and 10x10 inch rigid canvas boards using high-quality acrylic paints. Since these are handmade originals, I avoid any shortcuts. Every stroke, from the fine lines of a Kalamkari peacock to the expressive eyes of Ganesha, is painted by hand to capture the soul of the art.
Once the painting is dry, I seal it with a clear varnish to protect the surface and make the colors pop. If you have a specific deity, motif, or traditional style in mind, let's talk about it. I am happy to customize the composition to fit your home's aesthetic. Please note that I provide these as unframed flat boards, which gives you the flexibility to choose a frame that matches your interior decor later.
