Candid Baraat and Sangeet Photography

From the wild baraat entrance to the high-energy sangeet dance floor, I’m all about catching that infectious joy. No stiff poses here—just the real, unscripted celebration.

The energy of the Baraat. A guest joyfully throws money in the air, a traditional part of the celebration, while the dhol player keeps the beat.

The groom's grand entrance on a horse, looking cool and celebratory. This collage captures his stylish arrival at the wedding venue.

A collage of the guests dancing their hearts out in the Baraat. The energy is infectious, and I love capturing these moments of pure, uninhibited joy.

The whole family joins the celebration. This collage shows kids enjoying the dhol and the parents of the couple dancing together in the procession.

An atmospheric shot of the Baraat procession, with the groom on his horse under a traditional red umbrella, creating a sense of scale and excitement.

A black and white candid shot of guests laughing and dancing. Monochrome can capture the energy and emotion of a moment just as powerfully as color.

A framed portrait of the groom during the Baraat, holding up a banknote. This is a classic, fun moment from the groom's procession.

About this collection

The biggest challenge at a baraat or sangeet is capturing the chaos without becoming part of the furniture. I keep a low profile—moving through the crowd, anticipating the next dance move, and grabbing those wild, unscripted moments when everyone thinks I’m just a guest with a camera.

When you’re in the middle of a baraat, the last thing you want is a photographer asking you to 'look here' or 'smile more.' That’s why I don’t believe in directing the party. My approach to sangeet and baraat photography is reactive. Whether it’s the groom’s squad going wild, the bride joining the dhol circle, or those quiet, sweaty hugs between friends, I’m looking for the energy that makes your wedding feel like yours.

How I Handle the Energy

  • Low Light & High Motion: Dance floors are notoriously tricky. I rely on a mix of fast lenses and creative, off-camera flash techniques to ensure the movement looks sharp, not blurry, without killing the vibe with a harsh strobe.
  • The 'Tadka' Edit: My editing style focuses on keeping the colors vibrant and true to life. For those raw, emotional dance moments, I often switch to high-contrast monochrome to strip away the distractions and focus purely on the laughter.
  • Planning: Even for candid coverage, I like to chat beforehand about who the 'VIPs' are—the cousins who will definitely be on the dance floor or the family members who might need a gentle nudge to get into the groove.

Whether it’s a big, loud Mumbai wedding or an intimate gathering, I’m here to make sure you look back at these photos and remember exactly how it felt to be in the middle of it all.
