Designing for a restaurant or office is a balancing act. It is not just about making the space look good. It is about understanding the flow of people, the lighting, and your brand identity. When I painted the jazz mural for Chilli Pop, the goal was to set a tempo for the room, ensuring the art worked with the furniture and lighting rather than fighting against it. I prioritize layouts that enhance the mood, whether you need high-energy walls for a cafe or subtle, sophisticated motifs for a hotel lobby.
Commercial projects require a different approach than residential work. These walls are high-traffic areas, and the designs need to be durable and purposeful. I focus on creating visual narratives that align with your business goals, whether that means boosting employee morale in an office or creating an immersive experience for dining guests.
My Approach to Commercial Spaces
- Concept Integration: I start by listening to your brand story. For the Clovia office, we used fun typography and icons to reflect their brand values. The goal was to brighten the workspace and lift spirits.
- Environment Adaptation: For the Shanghigh restaurant, the oriental murals and koi fish pond scenes were designed to transport guests into a different world. We matched the art to the dining sections, creating zones that feel distinct yet connected.
- Architectural Nuance: I love using unconventional surfaces. At Hotel Tivoli, we used Mughal-inspired patterns on the ceiling. Ceiling art can trick the eye, making a room feel more voluminous or intimate depending on the print density and color.
