How I Paint Hand-Painted Wall Murals
I don't use digital previews. I sketch directly on your wall, brush by brush, so you see the design come to life in real-time.
This video gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how I work. It starts with the initial freehand pencil sketch, moves to filling in the colors with a fine brush, and ends with the finished, hand-painted mural. It’s a patient process that ensures every line is just right.
About My Painting Process
I start every project with a simple pencil sketch directly on your wall. This is deliberate. By drawing the layout live, we can adjust spacing and scale together before I touch a drop of paint. You get to see the composition evolve in your own space, which helps avoid any surprises when the final colors go on.
My Step-by-Step Approach
I believe the way of progress is neither swift nor easy, so I embrace the slow, deliberate work of painting. Here is how I handle your wall:
- The Pencil Sketch: I do not believe in digital mockups. A screen looks different from a physical wall with furniture around it. I draw the design on your wall first, so you can see exactly where the branches, vines, or abstract shapes will sit.
- The Painting Phase: Once we agree on the layout, I start with high-quality artist acrylics. I focus on clean, graphic lines and high-contrast colors. Whether it is a bird on a branch or a bold floral motif, I use fine brushes to ensure the edges are sharp and the saturation is right.
- Clean and Protect: I bring my own supplies, including masking tape to protect your floors and existing furniture. I take care of the setup and the cleanup, so you are only left with the new art on your wall.
Why Hand-Painted?
If you want something mass-produced, a decal or wallpaper is easier. But if you want a custom accent wall that feels like part of the house, that is where I come in. My style is not photorealistic—I aim for graphic, nature-inspired shapes that pop. It takes me 4 to 6 hours for smaller motifs and a full day or two for larger feature walls, but that patience allows for the detail you see in my work. If you are looking for specific hand-painted wall art in your living room or bedroom, I am happy to discuss what we can create.
