Creating Spaces with a Mother's Touch
Every nursery I design is a project I hold close to my heart. Becoming a mom changed how I see these spaces, turning every layout into a thoughtful, safe, and joyful home for your little one.
Standing in a newly completed nursery is always a moment of gratitude. I'm so thankful for the trust my clients place in me to create the perfect first room for their little ones.
About My Journey as a Designer & Mom
When I stand in a nursery I’ve just finished, I don’t just look at the joinery or the lighting. I look for the comfort, the safety, and the feeling of home. Because I’m a mom myself, I know that you are not just looking for a beautiful room; you are looking for a space that keeps your baby safe while they grow, explore, and dream.
Transitioning from professional architecture to designing for my own child gave me a new perspective on what makes a space truly work. It is not just about the aesthetics; it is about how the room survives the 'wild' phase.
The Safety-First Approach
My process centers on what I call the non-toxic standard. I insist on using water-based, lead-free PU finishes and paints because the air quality in a nursery is paramount. When we build furniture, I ensure every single piece has rounded edges to prevent bumps, and I use solid wood or high-grade marine plywood for durability.
Designing for Growth
I avoid one-time use designs. Instead, I focus on adaptable layouts. We plan for the baby stage while ensuring the storage and activity zones can transition as your child becomes a toddler and eventually a school-going kid. This means adjustable mattress heights in cribs and modular storage that evolves with their changing needs.
Why Sustainable Materials Matter
I lean heavily on natural materials like teak and rattan. They are not just visually calming and timeless; they provide a durable, chemical-free environment. For me, the goal is to create a room that feels soft, airy, and grounded, using warm light and organic cotton textiles to keep the space soothing for both you and your little one. My team and I handle the end-to-end supervision, from the first sketch to the final installation, so you can focus on the excitement of welcoming your baby home.
