A Magical Safari-Themed Nursery Design for Vayu
When designing Vayu’s nursery, I blended a vibrant, hand-painted jungle theme with calming, monochrome safari tones to create a peaceful yet playful space for rest and wonder. ❤️
This view shows how we designed the room to grow with the child, incorporating both a beautiful wooden crib for now and a toddler bed for later, ensuring the space remains functional for years.
The floor-to-ceiling jungle mural and custom wooden wardrobes with mirrored panels make the room feel expansive and full of adventure. Every detail is designed to spark curiosity and play.
Storage is key in any kid's room. I designed these bespoke wood and cane wardrobes to provide ample space, seamlessly blending them with the room's warm, natural aesthetic.
Every nursery needs a cozy corner for mom and baby. This comfortable armchair, paired with soft throws and a mini-fridge for convenience, is the perfect spot for late-night feeds and cuddles.
Here is a closer look at the monochrome safari nursery. The custom teak wood furniture and a gentle play gym create a warm and inviting area for the baby to rest and play safely.
This wide shot showcases the harmony between the detailed monochrome wallpaper and the large, sliding-door wardrobe made of wood and cane. The soft rug makes the entire floor a safe play zone.
The changing station is one of the most-used areas in a nursery. I designed this wooden dresser to be at a comfortable height with plenty of storage, placing it by the window for natural light.
A close-up of the changing table and crib shows the beautiful craftsmanship of the wooden furniture. The cane detailing adds a touch of texture and lightness to the solid wood pieces.
This custom-designed rocking chair with wood and cane accents was created as a special spot for mom and baby. It’s a comfortable, stylish piece perfect for creating lasting memories.
I was so thrilled to see this project featured in Architectural Digest. The article highlights the custom furniture and hand-painted murals that make this nursery truly one-of-a-kind.
About A Nursery for Vayu: A Celebrity Project
The secret to this room was balancing two distinct zones in one space. We used a vibrant, hand-painted jungle mural for the play area to spark curiosity, while the monochrome safari wallpaper creates a quieter, soothing atmosphere for sleep. Everything is anchored by custom wood and cane furniture, designed to be as safe as it is beautiful for little hands.
Designing for Vayu meant creating a room that could handle both high-energy play and deep, quiet rest. The goal was to integrate these needs without overwhelming the space. By using natural teak and cane, we kept the material palette grounded and tactile, which is important for sensory development.
We avoided plastic entirely. Every piece of furniture, from the crib to the dresser, uses non-toxic finishes and water-based paints. Safety is the foundation of the design. We rounded every edge and ensured that even the storage solutions are built to be reachable and safe as the child grows.
The layout is zoned for function. The changing station sits by the window to make the most of natural light, and the comfy rocking chair provides a dedicated spot for late-night feeds. Seeing this project featured in Architectural Digest was a proud moment, but the real reward is knowing it is a healthy, happy environment where a little one can truly grow.
