I do not just snap a photo of a cake; I obsess over the variables that trigger an appetite. Whether it is oil-brushing a croissant to catch the light or timing a chocolate drip to freeze at the perfect moment, my process focuses on tactile realism. We will review the shots tethered to my laptop during the shoot, so you have final say on every angle and texture before I pack up my gear.
Great dessert photography is about visualising the taste before the spoon even touches the plate. My approach to patisserie work is rooted in isolating what makes a sweet treat addictive, be it the glossy sheen on a fresh ganache, the flaky layers of a croissant, or the specific crumb structure of a cookie.
The Difference in Approach
I break my work down into two distinct styles depending on your needs. For menu and e-commerce shoots, I focus on clean, consistent lighting that accurately represents the product for platforms like Zomato and Swiggy. These shots prioritise clarity and true-to-life colour.
On the other hand, my hero and advertising campaigns are about impact. These projects utilise complex multi-light setups, splash photography, and composite editing to create those high-gloss images you see on billboards or website banners.
More Than Just Still Images
Food is dynamic. That is why I often integrate video content into dessert shoots. A slow-motion shot of a spoon breaking through a mousse or a quick clip of a chef plating a dessert adds a layer of authenticity that still photos cannot match.
