About Meet the Makers

When you walk into our markets, you aren't dealing with middlemen or generic retail staff. You are talking directly to the potter, the weaver, and the painter who spent weeks bringing their piece to life. It changes how you see an object when you know the specific person whose hands shaped it—ask them about their process, and you will see exactly what we mean.

Our mission is simple: to make sure you know exactly who made what you buy. In most stores, the story of the artisan is buried under layers of retail markups and logistics. Here, it is different. Whether it is Rakesh sharing the months it takes to weave a Kinnauri shawl or a tribal collective from the Nilgiris explaining their embroidery techniques, the connection is direct.

When you meet these makers, you aren't just buying a product. You are participating in a relationship. You learn about the challenges of working with natural dyes in Kutch, or the patience required for intricate Gond painting. It turns a simple shopping trip into a conversation. We believe that when you understand the 'haath ka kaam' (work of the hands) behind an object, you value it more. It is not just decor or apparel; it is a living piece of someone’s journey.

Our markets in Bengaluru, whether at Freedom Park or Jayamahal Palace, are designed to give these artisans the spotlight they deserve. Come by, pull up a chair, and listen to the stories behind the products. We promise you will leave with something more meaningful than just a shopping bag.

We are Mala and Sonia, and we started this because we couldn't stand seeing brilliant artisans ignored while big brands took all the credit. We built a space where you can actually look a creator in the eye, ask them about their craft, and support their livelihood directly. No middlemen, no secrets—just real people making beautiful things.
