About Voices of the Collective
People often ask why we started this, and our answer is always in the stalls. It is not just about the beautiful handlooms or ceramics you take home; it is about that direct conversation with a 'karigar' whose family has practiced that craft for generations. When you walk through our markets at Freedom Park or NIFT, you are not just shopping—you are participating in a 15-year-old movement to keep these skills alive and thriving. Our community is the heart of every exhibition.
A Movement Built by Community
We started in a garden years ago with a simple idea: to connect makers directly with the market. Today, 'A Hundred Hands' is a community-driven organization, and our success is measured by the connections made between you and our artisans.
Why Our Visitors Keep Returning
- Direct Access: You get to meet the person who actually made the piece, whether it is a handloom saree or a piece of mixed-metal jewellery. There are no middlemen.
- Diverse Craft: From Gond and Bhil paintings to natural fragrance gifts and hand-thrown pottery, there is something to discover for every taste. Visitors often tell us that even after 15 years, they still find something new.
- The 'Me to We' Vibe: Our festivals, like the 'Festival of Handmade' or 'The Monsoon Collective', are designed to be family-friendly. You will find live music, great regional food, and an atmosphere that welcomes everyone—from children running around to long-time collectors.
Where to Find Us
We host exhibitions throughout the year across Bengaluru, frequently appearing at venues like Freedom Park, Jayamahal Palace, and NIFT HSR Layout. Each market has its own flavour, but the core remains the same: a focus on 'haath ka kaam' (work of the hands) and a genuine, non-commercial approach. Whether you are coming to shop for sustainable gifts, join a pottery workshop, or just enjoy the community energy, we look forward to meeting you. Come as you are, and join the conversation.
A Hundred Hands
We are Mala and Sonia—you might recognize us by our grey hair in the photos. We started this movement in a garden years ago, and today, we remain a tiny, picky, and slightly nerdy team dedicated to ensuring 'karigars' get the spotlight they deserve. We do not just sell things; we share stories and build a space where handmade is a living legacy.
