Digital Illustration, Caricatures, and Animations
Exploring the boundary between traditional sketching and digital expression. Here are some of the digital caricatures, abstract animations, and tablet-drawn experiments coming out of our Noida studio.
A look at a digital caricature portrait being drawn on a tablet. This medium combines traditional drawing skills with modern technology.
The final digital caricature, printed out. It's a fun and modern style of portraiture that I love to create.
An example of a simple, hand-drawn animation. This short video shows how a few expressive lines can create a sense of movement and dance.
Another digital art piece in motion. This abstract animation plays with color, shape, and splatters to create a dynamic visual.
This is an abstract digital painting that comes to life through animation, showing how brushstrokes and colors can build and fade to create a mood.
About From Our Digital Sketchbook
When I pick up my tablet, it is not to replace my canvas work, but to find the kind of speed and spontaneity that lets me capture a quick caricature or a short animation. If you look closely, you can see how I keep that hand-drawn, tactile feel even when working digitally, which is a major part of the technical guidance I offer to students exploring digital illustration.
For a long time, my practice was strictly defined by paper, brushes, and acrylics. Adding digital work to my sketchbook has been a shift, but it has opened up new ways to play with movement and color.
Digital art often gets a reputation for being cold or clinical, but my approach is to treat the tablet just like a physical sketchbook. In these pieces, you see the same loose, expressive lines that I teach in my foundation drawing classes. Whether it is a quick digital caricature of a student or a short animation of a dance movement, the goal is to keep the energy alive on the screen.
I often find that students who are comfortable with traditional mediums are intimidated by the technology. My aim with these digital explorations is to demystify the process. We start with the basics of form and flow, ensuring that the technology serves the art rather than the other way around.
If you are based in Noida or surrounding areas and want to experiment with digital art—or if you are a design student preparing for entrance exams and need to strengthen your digital portfolio—this is the kind of experimental work we can explore together in our sessions. We keep the groups small so you get actual feedback, not just generic tutorials.
Advik Art and Design
I'm Prabuddha. I started as a traditional artist, but the digital space opened up a new way to share quick, expressive ideas. I love blending my NID design training with these digital experiments to keep my own creative practice fresh and pass those skills on to my students.
