Indian and Folk Art Inspired Murals

I bring traditional Indian motifs and geometric Warli patterns to life on your walls. These designs use simple lines to add a soulful, handmade character to any space, whether it is a private home or a cafe.

This is the full view of the folk-art inspired mural on an exterior wall in Gokarna. It features a mythical wolf-like creature and other decorative patterns, all painted in white to stand out against the terracotta-colored wall.

This was one of the first videos I recovered after losing my phone data. It shows the process of painting the intricate details on the celestial wolf figure, using only a fine brush and white paint.

Another process video of the folk-art mural, showing the freehand line work for a second Anubis-like figure. Each line is carefully placed to build the character's form and ornamentation.

This short clip shows me adding details to another part of the large folk-art mural. It's a reminder of the hours of work that go into these pieces, and I'm glad I could save some of this footage.

A different angle of the Egyptian-inspired folk art mural, showing how the design frames the side of the building. The style is a mix of traditional motifs and my own abstract interpretations.

A process video of a Warli painting I created. This traditional Indian tribal art uses simple geometric shapes to depict scenes of daily life, like this person drawing water from a well.

More examples of my Warli and folk-art inspired patterns. I use these designs to create borders and decorative frames around windows and doors, bringing a touch of traditional Indian art to the architecture.

About this collection

I don't use stencils. Everything you see here is drawn freehand directly onto the wall, starting with a chalk grid for layout. Because I paint each line myself, no two murals are identical, and you get a design that breathes with the architecture of your specific room or exterior.

There is something grounding about traditional folk art. When I paint these murals, I am often looking for the balance between ancient symbols and modern spaces.

Why Folk and Geometric Art?

These styles work because they are clean yet visually dense. Warli art, with its triangles, circles, and squares, creates a sense of order. It is excellent for framing windows, doors, or long boundary walls where you want to add detail without overwhelming the room. If you look closely at my work, you will see I often mix these tribal elements with my own abstract interpretations, creating something that feels rooted in Indian tradition but isn't just a copy of history.

The Process

I work directly on your wall surface using a chalk-grid method to guide the symmetry before I pick up the brush. It is a slow, meditative process. I use high-quality acrylic emulsions, so the work is durable, whether it is an interior wall or an exterior facade.

Customization

  • Monochrome: We can stick to traditional white-on-earthen-tones or black-on-white for a stark, graphic look.
  • Placement: I enjoy working with the existing geometry of a house. I can wrap patterns around corners or use them to highlight architectural features like arches.

If you have a wall that feels empty or a story you want told through symbols, tell me about it. We can work on a design that fits your space, not just a generic pattern.

I’m Ankita. My art is messy, bold, and usually inspired by whatever is in my head at the moment, whether that’s ancient folk patterns or a weird surreal dream. I travel to paint stories on walls, and I’d love to help bring yours to life.
