Hand-Painted Wall Murals and Art by Ankita
I paint stories on walls, blending surreal nature themes with intricate ink work. Here is a look at some of my favorite projects, from cafe murals in the Himalayas to personal home commissions in Bangalore.
This large, freehand wolf mural was a commission for a doctor's residence in Bangalore. I designed it to bring a sense of strength and wild nature into a modern, monochrome home, with the final piece showing the scale of the artwork.
I painted this surreal Buddha mural on wood panels for a cafe in the Himalayas. The piece combines spiritual symbolism with natural elements like twisting roots and a central eye, creating a meditative focal point in the room.
This mural was created on the exterior of a rustic building in Gokarna, blending Egyptian motifs with my own folk-art style. I used white paint on the earthen wall to create a striking, high-contrast design that honors both ancient and modern aesthetics.
A fun and vibrant piece for an eco-village, this mural features colorful psychedelic frogs on a plywood wall. It shows how I can adapt my style to different surfaces and create playful, nature-inspired art that brightens up a shared space.
This was my first large-scale wall mural in Bangalore, done on a private terrace. It's a great example of my free-flowing, intricate line work, creating a massive abstract and floral doodle that transforms the entire wall.
Inspired by the beautiful simplicity of Indian folk traditions, this is a Warli-style painting I did. I use its characteristic geometric shapes and stick figures to tell simple stories of village life, all painted freehand with white on a dark background.
This video shows the detailed process of creating the majestic wolf mural. You can see how I build up the layers, from the initial sketch to the intricate fur and background details, all done by hand with ink.
About this collection
When planning your mural, remember that I work entirely freehand without stencils. This means I need a clean, base-painted wall to start, whether it's a smooth interior plaster or a rustic wood panel. Having the surface ready helps me focus on the intricate line work and details that define my style.
My approach to mural art is deeply personal. I specialize in bringing surreal, nature-inspired themes into living spaces, cafes, and hostels. The pieces you see here are a mix of styles—from dense, stippled ink work that mimics tattoo aesthetics to geometric Indian folk art.
I don't just fill a space; I engage with the architecture. For example, my mural work in Bangalore focuses on modern, monochrome aesthetics like the wolf concept, while my Himalayan projects often embrace the raw energy of the mountains. Every commission starts with understanding the wall's texture and the mood you want to set. Whether you are looking for a vibrant, full-color piece or a subtle black-and-white ink illustration, I adapt my technique to suit the surface and the story you want to tell. My goal is to create wall art that feels like an extension of your own space, using high-quality acrylics or permanent ink to ensure the story lasts.

I'm Ankita, and I paint stories directly onto walls. I don't use stencils; I just pick up a brush and let the art happen, whether it's a surreal wolf or a folk-style motif. If you want a space that feels alive instead of just decorated, let's talk.
