About My Creative Process
It all starts with silica gel. That is the secret to keeping your wedding varmala from turning brown or losing its shape. I carefully deconstruct each flower and dehydrate it over several days before it ever touches resin. This ensures the petals look almost as fresh as they did on your big day, rather than dried out or brittle.
My Preservation Process
Dehydration Phase This is the most crucial part of the journey. Whether it is roses from a varmala or baby's first mittens, I use specialized silica gel to gently pull out moisture. This preserves the original shape and colour far better than simple air drying. It takes time, but I never rush this step because the result depends on it.
Casting and Pouring Once the items are dry, I arrange them in the mould. This is where I add personal touches like your wedding date, names, or even photos. The resin pour itself is a multi-layer process. I pour in stages to make sure the flowers stay exactly where I want them and do not float to the top. I use UV-resistant, non-yellowing epoxy to ensure the final piece stays crystal clear for years.
Finishing Touches After the resin cures, I sand the edges for a smooth, glass-like finish. For clocks and frames, this is when I add the final hardware like silent quartz movements or hanging hooks. Every piece gets a quality check to ensure that gloss is just perfect.
What You Can Send Do not worry if you have items that are older, like a varmala from a wedding a year ago. Send them over anyway. I have successfully restored flowers long after the big day, so do not stress about the timeline. If you have a specific vision, like a lamp with your initials or a clock with your wedding colours, let me know. We can chat and sketch ideas until it feels just right.
