My Preservation Process: Turning Flowers Into Timeless Art
Watch how I transform your wedding garlands, proposal bouquets, and special petals into custom resin keepsakes, one careful step at a time.
This is where it all begins. Here are three different orders I received: a proposal bouquet, a single rose from Propose Day, and a traditional wedding varmala. Each one arrives full of stories, ready to be preserved.
The final steps are so important. This video shows me sanding a large piece to get a smooth surface, and then pouring the clear top coat of resin. This is what gives the keepsake its glossy, beautiful finish.
This video shows the satisfying moment of pouring clear resin into a mold. You can see how it flows over the preserved flowers and photos, encasing them forever. It is a slow and careful process that requires a lot of patience.
Here is a little glimpse of me working at my desk, adding the final gold details to a wedding plaque with a pen. These small, handmade touches are what make each piece unique and special.
About My Process: From Flower to Forever
Many people worry that if their varmala or bouquet has already dried out, it is too late to preserve it. Please do not stress. I use a specialized silica sand drying technique that allows me to work with flowers in almost any condition, often restoring much of their original shape and color before I even begin the resin casting process.
Preserving a memory in resin is not just about pouring liquid plastic over flowers. It is a slow, multi-day process that requires a lot of patience. Here is how I handle your precious items in my studio:
1. Preparation and Drying
When you send me your flowers, the first step is assessment. Even if they are already dry, I use silica sand to draw out moisture and lock in the shape. This is critical because moisture is the enemy of resin; if the flowers are not perfectly dry, the resin will not cure correctly.
2. The Artistic Layout
Once the flowers are ready, I create the arrangement. Whether it is a dense varmala for a 12-inch clock or a delicate single rose for a coaster, I arrange everything by hand. This is when we decide on add-ins like gold flakes, names, or dates. You get a say in how your story is framed.
3. The Resin Pour
I pour the resin in layers. I never rush this. Each layer must cure properly before the next one goes on to prevent bubbles and ensure total clarity. This deep-pour method is what allows me to create thick, standalone blocks and lamps rather than thin, flat pieces.
4. Finishing Touches
After the piece has fully cured, I remove it from the mold. The edges are often rough at this stage, so I sand them by hand until they are smooth and polished. Finally, I apply a clear top coat for that glossy, protective finish.
Every piece is handmade from scratch in my Ghatkopar studio. Because I do this work by hand, no two pieces are ever identical, which is exactly what makes your keepsake unique to your memory.
