See my favorite experiments from the balcony. From my first cabbage harvest to saving plants with a little TLC, this is what my green journey looks like.

This is what pure happiness looks like for me. A basket full of fresh, organic veggies like these brinjals, spinach, and bitter gourd, all grown right here on my balcony. It's the best feeling to harvest your own food.

Look at the size of this cabbage I grew in a container. If you think you need a huge farm for this, think again. I'm so proud of this harvest, it was absolutely delicious.

Is your plant looking sad and droopy like this Syngonium was? Don't worry, I'll show you a super simple trick to perk it up by loosening the soil. A little aeration can make a world of difference.

This is a little throwback to my green escape. I love turning a simple balcony into a lush jungle with climbers, potted flowers, and lots of greenery. It's my favorite spot to relax.

You don't need fancy pots to start gardening. Here I am showing how I reuse plastic food containers to propagate turtle vine cuttings in water. It's all about being creative and sustainable, especially in a small space.

Who knew you could grow corn in a pot on a terrace? I was so excited when my corn plants grew taller than me. It was an experiment that gave me the sweetest surprise.

There's so much beauty in a harvest. I love arranging my freshly picked cowpea beans with some bright yellow gourd flowers from the garden. It’s art you can eat.

About this collection

You don't need a sprawling backyard to grow your own food. My balcony garden relies on repurposing common household items, like old plastic food containers for propagation, and focusing on high-resilience plants that thrive even in tight hostel or apartment spaces.

My Gardening Philosophy: Keep It Simple

Gardening is not about expensive equipment or perfect layouts. It is about persistence and curiosity. Whether you are working with a small apartment balcony or a sunny window sill, my goal is to show you that you can grow real food. I have raised everything from brinjals and chillies to full-sized cabbages in modest containers.

Why I Love Container Gardening

Container gardening is a game-changer for urban living. With the right soil mix, usually a blend of cocopeat, vermicompost, and organic soil, you can create a productive micro-farm. For those starting out, I always suggest:

  • Start Small: Focus on hardy plants like Syngonium, Pothos, or Snake Plant if you are worried about keeping things alive.
  • Repurpose: Before buying new pots, look around your kitchen. Old mugs, sturdy plastic dabbas, and food sacks make excellent, eco-friendly homes for your plants.
  • Check the Soil: If your plant looks droopy, do not panic. Sometimes, a simple soil loosening or aeration technique is all it needs to bounce back to life.

Dealing with the Ups and Downs

Let us be honest, pests happen. Aphids and other bugs are just part of the deal. Instead of reaching for harsh chemicals, I use simple organic fixes like neem oil. Sometimes plants do not make it, and that is just the learning curve. Every experiment is a chance to try something new, whether it is propagating turtle vines in water or figuring out why your corn is not growing.

Join me as we learn to turn corners of concrete into patches of green. It is messy, it is fun, and it is deeply rewarding to harvest a basket of fresh greens that you grew yourself.
