About The Technical Details: Audio & Acoustics
Good audio is about more than just buying expensive speakers. It is about how those speakers interact with the room. We focus on flush-mounted in-wall speakers like OSD Black and Episode series because they maintain a clean aesthetic while delivering precise sound. The real work happens in the calibration of your AV receiver, like the Marantz Cinema 40, to ensure the sound stage is balanced across every seat in the room.
The primary challenge in home cinema audio is managing sound reflections. When you install a high-end system, sound bounces off walls, ceilings, and floors, muddying the experience. We use professional acoustic treatments to manage this, effectively tuning the room so you hear the movie soundtrack as it was intended.
This process involves several layers of technical integration:
- Acoustic Treatment: We often combine deep button-tufted panels with specialized acoustic foam. These do not just add to the luxury aesthetic; they absorb excess energy and stop sound waves from bouncing around.
- Speaker Placement: For a 7.1.4 Dolby Atmos setup, the angles matter. We recess OSD or Episode in-wall speakers directly into the acoustic walls to ensure a clean, flush finish that does not disrupt the visual flow of the room.
- Processing Power: The AV receiver is the brain of the operation. We use reference-level 9.4 channel receivers to power these systems. We do not just plug them in; we calibrate the output levels, crossover frequencies, and timing for each individual channel to match your room’s specific dimensions.
If you are planning a media room, the structural work must happen before the wall panels go up. We recommend discussing your floor plan early so we can wire for subwoofers and surround speakers effectively.
