Grassroots Community Initiatives for a Greener Gurgaon
We believe change happens on the street, not just in seminars. From menstrual health drives to local plastic-reduction campaigns, we are working to make sustainable living simple and accessible for everyone in Gurgaon.
On Mother's Day, we focused on mothers' health. We visited a low-income community to talk about menstrual health and hygiene, discussing the health and environmental impact of disposable pads and distributing reusable menstrual cups.
Change starts with a conversation. Here, one of our volunteers talks to a local vegetable vendor about the impact of single-use plastic bags, encouraging him to ask customers to bring their own cloth bags. This is grassroots action in its truest form.
Did you know Gurgaon has a zero-waste grocery store? We love sharing resources like Adrish Zero Waste Organic Store, where you can buy groceries package-free. Supporting such businesses is a great way to reduce waste.
An invitation to our 'Sakhi Sahara' drive on Mother's Day. The goal was to raise awareness about menstrual health and hygiene in low-income dwellings, because every mother deserves access to knowledge and resources.
About Community Initiatives & Outreach
We do not just talk about sustainability; we show up where it matters. Whether it is a conversation with a local vegetable vendor about plastic bags at the Wednesday Market or conducting a menstrual health drive in an under-served neighborhood, we focus on the messy, necessary work of community transformation. If you are tired of hearing about the problem and want to be part of the solution, join us for our next on-ground drive.
Our work is built on the belief that large-scale change is just a collection of small, everyday actions. We bring back the dadi-nani (grandmother's) era habits because they were sustainable by design.
Why We Go Local
We spend our weekends and spare hours in the community because that is where the real change happens. When we started our 'Sakhi Sahara' drive, the goal was to demystify menstrual hygiene. By distributing menstrual cups in low-income dwellings, we tackle two issues at once: health access for mothers and reducing plastic waste from disposable pads.
Fighting Plastic at the Source
We collaborate with local vendors, like those at the Wednesday Market, to encourage plastic-free shopping. It is about building a rapport, not just preaching. We also want to make your daily life easier, which is why we share resources like the Adrish Zero Waste Organic Store in Sector 47. Finding a package-free grocery store in Gurgaon can be a challenge, so we do the legwork to find and verify these spots for you.
Join the Tribe
We are a bunch of neighbors, students, and professionals who mess up sometimes but keep trying. Whether it is plogging at the Leopard Trail or running a thrift drive, our events are open to anyone who cares about their city. No jargon, no gatekeeping, just real work for a cleaner Gurgaon. If you have an idea or want to volunteer, reach out.
Zero Waste
We are a passionate community of volunteers, moms, and students dedicated to a greener Gurgaon. We believe that small, conscious changes can make a big difference and we are always looking for more hands to join our drives.
