About Our Zero-Waste Promise
We operate on a simple '10-20 Promise' to keep things green: bring your own bag and get Rs 10 back from the vendor, or take a disposable bag and pay Rs 20. It is not about the money, but about changing our habits together. Most of our regulars just keep a sturdy cloth bag in their car or by the door—it is the easiest way to never forget.
More Than Just a Market
We believe clean food shouldn't cost the earth, and that starts with how we carry it home. Since we started 11 years ago, we have been obsessed with reducing our footprint. Our zero-waste approach is not just a policy—it is a community ritual.
The Bag Bank
Have extra paper or plastic bags lying around at home from courier deliveries? Bring them to the market. We have a 'Bag Bank' where you can donate these clean, used bags. Vendors use them when a customer forgets their own, preventing the need for buying new packaging.
Purana Baksa Initiative
We often collaborate with Zero Waste Gurgaon for projects like 'Purana Baksa' (Old Box), where you can donate new or gently used items that are just taking up space in your wardrobe. It keeps good things out of landfills and gets them to someone who actually needs them.
Common Questions
- Do I really need to bring my own bag? Yes, please! It helps us keep the market 100% plastic-free. If you forget, we have a supply of donated bags in our Bag Bank, or you can pay the Rs 20 contribution for a disposable one.
- Can I donate other things? We periodically host collection drives for clothes, décor, and home items. Keep an eye on our weekly announcements to see what we are collecting next.
- How do I get the Rs 10 incentive? It is simple. Just present your cloth bag to the farmer or vendor when you are buying your produce. They will deduct Rs 10 from your total bill. It is our way of saying thank you for keeping the ecosystem clean.
Manas
I'm Manas, and I started this market 11 years ago because I believe clean food shouldn't cost the earth. We aren't just selling veggies; we're building a community that actually cares about where our waste ends up. Come as you are, bring your bag, and let's keep it simple.
