My Artist's Journey: The Story Behind The Paint
Painting isn't just about the final wall, it is about the story, the struggle, and the grind that happens before the first spray. Here is a look at my life as an artist, my philosophy, and the grit behind the work.
In this podcast clip, I talk about how graffiti teaches you to embrace mistakes. Sometimes a slip becomes part of the art, and learning to fix or incorporate those "errors" is what defines you as an artist. It's a flexible and forgiving art form.
Following your heart as an artist isn't easy. This reel shows the work-in-progress of a complex illusion piece while listing the challenges we face. But we rise above it, because creating is what makes us warriors.
A snippet from The Power Talk Show where I discuss the reality of being an artist. It's about hard work and dedication, not instant rewards. My dream isn't a fancy car; it's the freedom to create, even if it's in a small cottage in the mountains.
A preview of my conversation on a podcast, where I discuss the common misconceptions about graffiti. I talk about the importance of educating people on the difference between graffiti, street art, and murals, and respecting each as a unique art form.
About My Artist's Journey
People often think graffiti is just throwing paint, but it is really about learning to work with mistakes. When a line slips or a color bleeds, you do not just walk away, you adapt, you fix, and you make it part of the flow. That is the grit you need, whether you are spraying a canvas in a masterclass or covering a massive building facade in Delhi. Understanding that the process matters as much as the result is what separates a tagger from an artist.
Art is a way of life for me. It is not just about the finished mural on a college campus in Delhi or a cafe wall; it is about the late nights, the constant learning, and the hustle.
Why I Paint
My roots go back to Darbhanga, and I carry those memories with me into every project. Whether I am using traditional Devanagari script or modern wildstyle graffiti, the goal is always to create a dialogue. Graffiti is often misunderstood as vandalism, but at its heart, it is about self-expression and reclaiming urban spaces.
The Creative Process
- Learning from Mistakes: As I discuss in my podcast clips, I view 'errors' as part of the work. If you mess up a line, you don't quit. You adjust, improvise, and incorporate the slip into the final design.
- Nature and Urban Life: My work aims to make concrete feel alive. I blend natural elements—birds, trees, and sky—into the cold textures of city walls.
- Technique Matters: From using low-pressure caps for crisp outlines to handling fat caps for big fills, I teach these skills in my workshops. It is about control and understanding your tool.
My Philosophy
I live by the motto: 'Udaan bharne ke liye pankh nhi, Hausla zaruri hai' (To fly, you do not need wings, you need courage). My work is about giving people the courage to create. When I work with corporate teams or students, I am not just teaching them to paint; I am showing them that they have a story worth telling on a blank wall. It is about that raw, unfiltered rush of self-expression.
