My Approach to Yoga and Daily Practice
Yoga is more than just poses to me. It is about connecting with yourself, managing the daily grind, and finding a little bit of balance—no matter who you are or what your day looks like.
Yoga can be practiced anywhere, in any attire that feels comfortable. Here I am in a simple warm up stretch, showing that the essence of yoga is about finding stillness and breath, not perfection.
This is a simple hand stretch in Gomukhasana, great for toning the arms and avoiding cramps. It shows that even basic movements, when done with awareness, are a form of yoga.
A lot of my work happens off the mat. Here I am prepping a session plan, studying posture benefits to ensure every class I teach is structured, safe, and effective for my students.
The Namaskara mudra is a gesture of respect and welcome, but it is also a way to center yourself. I often start my sessions with this to signify a new beginning and a moment to focus inward.
Stretching is a constant in all forms of yoga, from traditional to modern. A simple seated stretch like this one is a great way to strengthen the body and stay flexible.
A moment of pause. My practice is about finding a balance between being in a posture and simply being present.
About My Practice & Philosophy
I don't teach one-size-fits-all yoga. Whether you are coming to me to undo the stiffness from a desk job, manage high-pressure work days with Pranayama, or just find a way to move your body without the pressure of perfect alignment, my sessions are designed to meet you exactly where you are. We focus on functional, practical movements that actually help you navigate your day, rather than just forcing postures that look good on camera.
My philosophy, which I call Yogakshema, is rooted in the belief that yoga belongs to everyone. Coming from a legal background, I understand the challenges of juggling professional responsibilities with personal well-being. This is why my practice prioritizes consistency and relief over extreme flexibility or aesthetic perfection.
Why I Teach This Way
I integrate traditional Asana with modern, practical techniques. You will find that my sessions often focus on:
- Desk-Job Detox: Using simple, effective stretches to target the shoulders, neck, and lower back, which are often the first areas to suffer during long office hours.
- Breathwork (Pranayama): Teaching you how to use your breath to calm your nervous system, especially before high-stakes meetings or during stressful exam seasons.
- Safe Accessibility: Whether you are new to the mat or returning after a long break, I provide personal adjustments to ensure you are practicing safely using your body's current capabilities.
The 'Real' Yoga
There is no pressure to be perfect in my classes. We laugh when we fall, we adjust when a posture feels uncomfortable, and we focus on the feeling of the stretch rather than the visual. My sessions are collaborative, meaning I listen to what your body needs on that specific Tuesday and adjust the flow accordingly. If you are looking for a yoga practice that fits into your life rather than forcing your life to fit into a yoga routine, you are in the right place.
