Run, Climb, and Grow Outside: Active Play for Toddlers
Movement is magic. Here, your little one builds confidence through joyful jumps, outdoor obstacle courses, and messy-but-happy play right in the heart of Chanakyapuri.
At The Playroom, fitness feels like fun! We mix indoor climbing with outdoor races and games to build strength, balance, and coordination in our little adventurers.
With hard hats and toy trucks, our little builders get to work. This kind of imaginative outdoor play is fantastic for problem-solving and learning to work together.
Learning to share is a big step for toddlers. In this video, you can see how I gently guide two children from a conflict over a toy to a collaborative block-building game, turning a tough moment into a lesson in teamwork.
A 'Star Parent' takes the children on a kitchen garden adventure. Getting their hands in the soil and learning where food comes from is a valuable, hands-on experience for our little ones.
Look at this two-year-old mastering circuit training! I design our outdoor activities to be challenging but achievable, helping toddlers build physical confidence and a love for being active.
To prepare for Republic Day, the children enjoyed marching to the beat of a drum and engaging in a friendly game of tug-of-war. These activities are great for building rhythm and team spirit.
About Run, Climb, and Grow Outside
We don't just leave kids to run wild in our garden. Every outdoor circuit is thoughtfully designed to build specific motor skills—like balance, core strength, and spatial awareness—using imported Pikler triangles and custom obstacle courses. While your little one navigates these challenges, our didis and teachers are always nearby, ready to encourage a hesitant climber or offer a high-five for a job well done. It is about building physical confidence, one safe step at a time.
Why Outdoor Movement Matters
For us, a preschool isn't just four walls and a whiteboard. We believe in the 'mud-and-grass' approach to learning. When a toddler climbs a structure or balances on a beam, they aren't just playing; they are mapping their own bodies and learning to trust their capabilities. This physical foundation is the building block for their cognitive development.
Our Outdoor Curriculum
Our 'Run, Climb, and Grow' approach is structured into daily sessions that mix free play with guided activities:
- Gross Motor Circuits: We rotate setups using balance beams, tunnels, and low-level climbing frames to keep things interesting.
- Rhythmic Play: We often incorporate music into our outdoor time, using drums and parachute games to help children synchronize their movements with others.
- Safe Exploration: The grass is our primary floor. We ensure all equipment is age-appropriate, sanitized, and inspected daily.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you supervise play at all times? Yes. Our staff-to-child ratio is kept deliberately small. Whether it is a game of tag or a session on the climbing frame, a teacher is always within arm's reach to ensure safety and resolve any little tiffs over toys.
What if my child is a beginner at physical activities? That is exactly why we are here. We meet every child where they are. If your toddler is just starting to walk or balance, our activities are adjustable. We focus on progress, not perfection.
Are parents involved? For our younger cohorts (10-18 months), we encourage parents to join in. For older toddlers, we have our 'Star Parent' program where you are welcome to lead a story or cheer from the sidelines. We love having you in the garden with us.
