About The Haldi Mayhem

Haldi ceremonies are inherently messy, and I prefer it that way. I am not standing back with a long lens trying to avoid the turmeric stains. I am right in the middle of it, anticipating the moment a cousin decides to dump an extra bucket of water or when the bride starts laughing so hard she can’t breathe. You aren't hiring me to watch from a distance; you are hiring me to document the chaos that happens when everyone stops performing for the camera.

When you look at your wedding photos ten years from now, you won't care about the perfect decor setup. You will care about the look on your dad's face when he applied the Haldi, or the way your friends turned the ceremony into an impromptu dance battle.

My approach to the Haldi ceremony is rooted in speed and anticipation. This is a fast-paced ritual with high-energy movement. I utilize full-frame sensors and prime lenses that handle low-light and rapid motion well, ensuring that the vibrancy of the yellow turmeric and marigold decor doesn't lose its texture to over-exposure. Whether it is a traditional Maharashtrian ceremony or a cross-cultural mashup, I document the sequence as a narrative.

I focus on the juxtaposition between the sacred rituals and the playful vandalism that inevitably follows. This is where I capture the rawest emotions—the unfiltered joy, the laughter, and sometimes the tears of happiness. My job is to edit out the unnecessary clutter and leave you with the moments that define the beginning of your wedding festivities. If you want a sanitized version of the day, there are many others who can provide that. If you want the truth of the moment, we should talk.

I’m Sagar. When I shoot a Haldi, I’m not looking for the perfect pose; I’m looking for the moment everyone forgets the cameras are even there. My job is to document the raw, yellow-stained happiness that turns your wedding into a story you actually recognize.
