The Roka ceremony is often filled with formal rituals, but the real story lies in the moments between them. My team focuses on the quiet interaction during the ring exchange, the shared smiles when family isn't looking, and the genuine nerves that disappear when you finally lock eyes with your partner. We keep our cameras moving to catch that split-second look of relief and joy that happens only when the heavy part of the ceremony is over.
Engagement parties and Roka ceremonies are unique because they are the first chapters of your wedding story. Unlike the main wedding day which can feel like a production, these smaller events allow us to lean into the 'Unposed by VS Studio' philosophy. We bring a 3-person crew—a photographer for those raw, candid portraits, a cinematographer for the motion, and an assistant to ensure we capture the candid joy without interrupting the flow of family traditions.
We often find that couples are most nervous during the Roka because it is the first time the families truly come together. That is why we act as guests with cameras rather than service providers. We are not there to direct every pose or tell you how to hold your hands. We are there to document the laughter during the ceremony, the warmth of the hugs from your parents, and the quiet comfort you find in each other amidst the chaos.
