About In the Studio
Studio recording is high-pressure work, and your voice tires much faster under the microscope of a microphone. When we work together in the studio, we focus on pre-production warm-ups that prepare your instrument for long hours, troubleshoot pitch or diction issues in real-time, and make technical adjustments that help you capture the right emotion rather than just hitting a note.
Your Voice Under the Microscope
Recording is a different beast than singing live. Every small pitch imperfection, breathy transition, or lack of support is magnified. My role as your vocal director is to bridge the gap between your technical ability and the sound coming through the monitors.
Pre-Production & Mic-Prep
We don’t just walk in and start singing. Before your session, we review the emotional goal of your track. Our pre-production focuses on:
- Technical bottlenecks: Identifying where you struggle with pitch or sustain.
- Fatigue management: Structuring your session so you don't burn out by the third take.
- Warm-up protocols: I guide you through specific exercises to get your voice 'mic-ready' so you aren't wasting expensive studio time warming up on the clock.
During the Recording Session
Once the red light is on, I’m your second pair of ears. I provide real-time feedback on dynamics, diction, and performance energy. If a high note isn't sitting right, we don't just 'try again' indefinitely. We troubleshoot the technique, adjust your posture, or tweak your phrasing until it lands. Whether you are tracking your first single or a complex EP, I help you maintain consistency across multiple takes and ensure your final product sounds as polished as it is authentic.
