About School Programs & Youth Fitness
I treat school fitness like a celebration, not a drill. My sessions aren't just for the kids; I make sure the teachers and staff get involved too, because when adults show they can have fun with movement, the kids follow. It is about building a vibe where exercise feels like the most natural thing in the world.
School fitness programs often get stuck in the 'exercise period' mindset, which is the fastest way to make kids hate working out. My approach is different. With 25 years of experience in blending Zumba, aerobics, and dance, I focus on the 'Jalwa'—the energy, the music, and the collective rhythm that makes 500 kids move in sync at a marathon or 50 teachers dance in sarees at a school event.
Whether it is a warm-up session for a school marathon like the ones I have led for events in Delhi NCR, or a fun-filled wellness break during a sports day, my goal is the same: to show young people that fitness is not about looking a certain way, but about feeling good in your skin. I keep the choreography simple so no one feels left behind, and I use a mix of Latin beats and Bollywood tracks to keep the energy high. My sessions are structured to be inclusive, ensuring that everyone from the little champs to the staff and educators can participate without pressure. By removing the judgment and adding a healthy dose of fun, we create a positive association with movement that lasts long after the session ends.
